What is the difference between a realtor and a real estate agent in Ontario?

In Ontario, a real estate salesperson is someone registered with RECO who works under a brokerage to help clients buy or sell property. A real estate broker has completed more training and may operate a brokerage or supervise other agents. Both must be registered with RECO to practice legally. The most important step is verifying that an Ontario agent's registration is current and active.

A Realtor with a capital R is a trademark of the Canadian Real Estate Association. Only CREA members may use this title. Realtors commit to a code of ethics that goes beyond the baseline RECO requirements. In Ottawa, most licensed agents are also CREA members. Find licensed real estate agents in Ottawa to get started.
