Urban Capital called Glasshouse its first project on the Prairies, and it was built to kick-start downtown condo living: floor-to-ceiling glass, a gym, a theatre room, a concierge and a rooftop deck with barbecues, sitting on top of an Alt Hotel, 100,000 square feet of offices and two restaurants.

What happened next is the story residents tell. In April 2025 CBC reported that 56 short-term rental licences had been approved in the 194-unit building since Winnipeg's licensing bylaw took effect in 2024 — more than half of all approvals in the Daniel McIntyre ward. Owners told CBC the building's security and concierge costs had risen more than 130 per cent since 2020, peaking at $206,576 in 2023 after coverage went from eight hours a day to 20 because of partying, criminal activity and police raids. One owner described witnessing what police say was a human-trafficking incident. If you are buying here, that is the line item and the risk to read up on first.

The Skyscraper Center estimates the height at about 72 m and lists 21 floors; Urban Capital and Stantec confirm 194 units and 2016 completion but do not publish a storey count.
