About 190 Smith
Libling Michener designed it as a luxury apartment building with hotel rooms, in a steel frame with alternating horizontal bands of glass and dark panelling. It was converted into a hotel in 1988 and back toward apartments later, rebranded in the 2010s as Antares Luxury Suites with a renovation by Number TEN that repainted the upper block and reclad the parking garage in patterned Corten steel. A large private collection of First Nations art is displayed through the building.
Today it leases studios, one- and two-bedrooms with all utilities and high-speed internet included, a fitness facility, a rooftop area, a lounge and a dog-wash station, with no pet deposit.
