About Chateau 100
Smith, Carter, Parkin designed it for M.E.P.C. Canadian Properties as a city within a building: over 200 suites and 223,289 square feet above six floors of parking, with street-level retail that once held a grocery store, restaurant, salon and dry cleaners, plus an outdoor sun deck, saunas, a gym and squash courts. It was announced in 1969 by Mayor Stephen Juba and Premier Walter Weir alongside Centennial House next door at 310 Broadway.
Fifty-odd years on, the pitch is space for money. A Reddit commenter describes an 830-square-foot one-bedroom with a 30-foot balcony, heat, hydro and parking included; another describes a very clean building with a lot of seniors and plenty of laundry machines. Google's review topics carry the other half of the picture: hot water and the word "slumlord" both appear.
