About Fort Garry Place
The complex was developer Martin Bergen's, and it was marketed on "Old World Charm": a castle motif, hundreds of decorative pillars, lions and statuary, and the only caryatids on any building in Winnipeg. That styling still divides opinion, but the bones are solid — Reddit threads about the buildings come back to concrete construction, a long wait-list and management that stays on top of maintenance.
The location is the real argument for it. Union Station, Upper Fort Garry, The Forks and the Assiniboine riverwalk are all within a few minutes on foot, and the podium connects to the Fort Garry Hotel. The three towers are leased separately by Edison Properties, so availability and rent differ from building to building.
Tower heights and storey counts disagree. Wikipedia's list of tallest buildings in Winnipeg gives Fort Garry Place III 31 storeys, I 25 and II 24, all completed 1989; a Winnipeg Downtown Places history of the development describes three towers of 20 storeys each holding about 900 apartments. The architect is not named in any source we could verify.
